The VCB
Tourism Ambassador Program
Based at the Southwest Florida International Airport, in partnership with the Lee County Port Authority, our team of 140 volunteer Tourism Ambassadors have been welcoming and assisting travelers at the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) since 1989. The ambassadors answer approximately 600,000 questions annually. Inquiries at the information booths include questions about Fort Myers’ Islands, Beaches and Neighborhoods, Charlotte County, Collier County as well as the airport. Five Visitor Information Booths, staffed by our Tourism Ambassadors, are located at RSW on the departure level and baggage claim area. Tourism Ambassador Roamers walk the public areas of the airport and car rental building to assist the traveling public and residents alike. Additionally, our German and Spanish-speaking ambassadors assist passengers as they disembark from international flights. Be sure to say hello to them next time you’re at the airport!
Interested in volunteering with us?
Our volunteer program requires extensive mobility throughout the airport as well as basic computer and iPhone knowledge. Other opportunities exist for volunteering and not all of the VCB Tourism Ambassadors participate in every opportunity. Fort Myers’ Islands, Beaches and Neighborhoods also welcome many other international guests. If you speak German, French, Spanish, or another language, please consider volunteering with us.
Training for Tourism Ambassadors begins in late spring and extends through the fall season. When your application is received we will put it into a holding file until an opening occurs. At that time we will contact you to schedule a visit with Visitor Services staff to discuss volunteer opportunities.
