Feeling the Love for Pride Month

June is officially Pride Month, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community with colorful parades and festivals as well as commemorative events and activities to honor those who have fought for civil rights. While Fort Myers celebrates Pride during different times of year, there are always LGBTQ+-friendly things to do in Southwest Florida.

Be free to celebrate Pride Month at LGBTQ+-friendly locations in different neighborhoods. In Fort Myers, Rascals kicks off each day with happy hour from noon to 8 pm and goes long into the night with drag shows and dancing. Cruisers Lounge is a never-ending party of karaoke, drag shows, bingo, and more, all within the heart of downtown Cape Coral.

Local organizations work year-round to create inclusive spaces and provide helpful resources. Pride-SWFL is the force behind SWFL Pride that takes place in November and partnered with Visuality, Inc. to open the Goldberg Center as a welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community.

Fort Myers’ thriving cultural scene frequently showcases the works of LGBTQ+ artists and other diverse perspectives. Look for exhibits in spaces like DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts, during February’s ArtFest Fort Myers and at Fringe Fort Myers held by the Alliance for the Arts in late May/early June.
