Trailhead Park Opens in Fort Myers Trailhead Neighborhood Park connects two other local parks and provides access to more than 30 miles of bike trails. Parks and preserves throughout The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel make it easy to stay active and get outdoors. Trailhead Neighborhood Park, the county’s newest green space, offers even more opportunities to enjoy Southwest Florida’s beautiful nature. Opened August 23, the park gives cyclists and joggers a place to access more than 30 miles of trails. The new park connects John Yarbrough Linear Park (formerly Ten Mile Linear Park) to the east with Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve to the west, creating a network of trails more than 30 miles long. The Linear Bike Trail, a 3-mile path between Metro Parkway and Ortiz Avenue, runs through the park. The park also features a playground and outdoor exercise area, including a stair climber and stationary bikes. Trailhead Neighborhood Park is located at 3980 Veronica Shoemaker Blvd. in Fort Myers. For more information, contact the Lee County Parks & Recreation department at 239-533-7275. Aside from Trailhead Park, Lee County Parks & Recreation has recently unveiled another new offering – its redesigned website. Visit the new www.leeparks.org for information on area parks, preserves, multi-use trails, dog-friendly facilities and more.
