In its September 2009 issue, Travel + Leisure names the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs as one of the Top 50 Resorts in the U.S. and Canada. The resort is also one of the most affordable in its category – it is among only five properties listed with a nightly room rate of $250 or less.

The rankings are part of the travel magazine's 14th annual "World's Best Awards" reader survey. Nancy Novogrod, editor-in-chief of Travel + Leisure, said "This year's results reflect our readers' travel interests in this challenging economic reality – value, intimacy, service and discovery are top priorities." Overall, she said, properties that were casual and laid-back ranked high.

For the survey, readers were asked to rate hotel properties based on five characteristics: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value. They could also weigh in on the property's suitability for business travelers and for families. A minimum number of responses was necessary for a candidate to be eligible for inclusion.

The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa is located in Bonita Springs, just south of Fort Myers. A modern high-rise property, it offers 454 rooms, many with full balconies and views of Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The resort boasts many kid-friendly amenities, including seven swimming pools, a 140-foot waterslide and a 25-foot climbing wall. The property is also known for its beautiful, natural setting – visitors can take a bird-watching hike through the Estero Bay mangroves, where blue herons, ospreys and egrets make their homes.
